AVENGED SEVENFOLD's ZACKY VENGEANCE Is 'Thrilled' To See OZZY OSBOURNE Reunite With ZAKK WYLDE
May 3, 2017AVENGED SEVENFOLD guitarist Zacky Vengeance was recently interviewed by Meltdown of the Detroit, Michigan radio station WRIF. You can now listen to the chat below.
Asked for his opinion on the announcement that Ozzy Osbourne was reuniting with guitarist Zakk Wylde for the first time in more than a decade, Zacky said: "Oh, dude, it's so cool. I love to see all that stuff. Certain bands, you get a couple of people together and it just creates magic. All those guys are extremely talented on their own, but when you put 'em together, it's just something really, really special."
He continued: "We had the privilege of doing Ozzfest back in 2006. And Zakk Wylde, he rules as a guitarist. He's just one of those magical guitar players that just can do stuff that other people can't — much like a Dimebag [Darrell Abbott] or a [Jimi] Hendrix. They just have something really, really spectacular. And Ozzy, he's the master. You put those two guys together and it's just crazy."
Zacky added: "I'm thrilled. I love seeing the original guys get back together. I love seeing the MISFITS get back together, and Slash and Axl [Rose] and GUNS N' ROSES. I mean, that's what it's all about. That's what creates the magic."
Osbourne and Wylde will head out on tour along with the rest of Ozzy's solo band for a series of headlining shows in the U.S. this summer and fall, beginning on July 14 at the Rock USA festival in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. While Ozzy and Wylde have performed together over the years, this will be their first full tour together since 2006.
The dates also mark Ozzy's first solo tour in the U.S. in years.
Ozzy and Wylde first teamed up 30 years ago when Wylde joined Ozzy's band in 1987 and made his debut on the following year's "No Rest For The Wicked" album. They last collaborated in 2007 on Ozzy's "Black Rain" album.
AVENGED SEVENFOLD will join METALLICA for the latter's "WorldWired" 2017 North American tour. Produced by Live Nation, the summer's hottest ticket kicks off May 10 at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Maryland with openers VOLBEAT.
AVENGED SEVENFOLD is touring in support of its seventh album, "The Stage", which was given a surprise release at the end of October with almost no promotion beforehand.
